If you’re a carer looking after a family member, you probably don’t get much respite from your duties, and although helping a loved one is highly rewarding, it’s also extremely demanding. A few days’ rest can do wonders for your energy levels and enthusiasm, and we can help with that.
How often do you need a break?
You don’t necessarily need to have a long break to feel the benefit. Some of our residents and their loved ones find that short breaks at regular intervals work well, perhaps one day or afternoon a week. Perhaps the odd week or two throughout the year we aim to make the resident feel as if it’s a holiday and so allow their carers to go on holiday reassured.
We’ll take care of everything for you
Should you be considering respite at Sandown Nursing Home you are welcome to come and view the Home at any time and have a chat with our nursing team about your loved one’s needs. A trial basis is always an option.
Before any respite stays, a full pre-assessment to establish your relative or friend’s health care needs and daily care routine will be undertaken by our senior nursing staff. A subsequent care plan will be prepared before their stay enabling all staff within the Home to have a holistic knowledge-based framework to provide care in keeping with their normal routine to minimise distress.
