About Us

At Sandown Nursing Home we understand that we really have to get to know each unique individual and the relationship between the staff and the residents will not only be professional, but personal too. We offer an improved quality of life combined with the highest possible standards of care provided by dedicated trained staff.

Personal choice is so important to us. We take personal preferences into account whether this is in relation to the resident’s plan of care or how they want to spend their time.

Our residents bring to us their lifetimes experiences and we recognise their right to be treated with dignity and respect. All residents are treated and nursed in a manner that ensures that their privacy and dignity is maintained. We encourage as much independence as possible.

Best possible care

  • First and foremost this is the residents’ home; therefore we respect your rights to feel safe, to be surrounded by personal possessions, to have visitors at any time and to have privacy, respect and dignity.
  • To provide the highest level of care in a homely and friendly atmosphere, working as a team with our assistants, carers and outside health professionals.
  • All care to be directed to meet each resident’s individual physical, mental, social and cultural needs, through individual care plans, to promote individuality and greater independence.
  • We respect each resident’s right to participate in social and religious activities in and out of the Home.
  • We respect each resident’s right to make and maintain friendships and pursue hobbies, interests and leisure activities.
  • All residents have the right to a doctor of their choice within the Home’s catchment area.
  • Residents have the right to total confidentiality, be it medical, financial or other.

Additional Support

Sandown Nursing Home also has a dedicated business manager whose role is to oversee the Nursing Home, allowing the matron to focus on the important side, which is the care of our residents. The business manager is also actively involved in helping residents settle in with the help of the administrator, they are always willing to offer support and advice on areas of concern, for example:

Who should fund our residents, getting financial support and when to involve Social Services or the PCT?

What does the Mental Capacity Act cover and how could this affect our residents and their families, including lasting power of attorney?

Help in liaising with Social Services, the PCT or other Government agencies.
